Introduction to storytelling
“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.” Philip Pullman
Workshops and evening classes
Storytelling is about far more than telling tales. Since we, as humans, first used language, storytellers have entertained and taught; explained and inspired. Today, the immense potential of storytelling to connect and communicate is being realised by, among others, parents, teachers, librarians, heritage organisations, community workers, therapists and the business world.
I run a one-day Introduction to Storytelling 1 course for beginners; an Introduction to Storytelling 2 weekend for those with a little experience and Telling Tales a series of storytelling evening classes for all who are interested.
Introduction to Storytelling 1 workshop
An engaging, practical day for beginners wishing to tell stories to family and friends or as part of their work. Find out about the range of traditional stories you might tell, learn useful storytelling techniques and develop confidence with support and plenty of fun.
The location is beautiful and there will be the opportunity to do some work outside.
- Future dates in process of being arranged. £70

Introduction to Storytelling 2 workshop
A weekend to develop the skills touched on in the one-day workshop and to learn more. A chance to find or bring along a story of your choice to work on. It is my intention to have a fire on the Saturday evening, with guest storytellers, around which all who wish can tell stories. Plenty of games, exercises, encouragement and fun.
- Future dates in process of being arranged. £140
Telling Tales evening classes
For beginners and those with some experience, this is a chance to learn more about stories and storytelling, discuss the role of the storyteller and practice telling in a supportive group.
